In ancient Greek, psyche (ψυχή), literally means breath, life, or soul. It represents the vital, animating force that keeps a person alive, and serves as the core of human consciousness, personality, and desire.
Beyond the noun, Psyche is the name of a Greek goddess represented in ancient art with butterfly wings. She is the Goddess of the Soul who overcame monumental trials and achieved immortality to marry Eros, the god of Love. The word’s linguistic ties to the butterfly, psychai in Greek, and reflect themes of transformation and the soul’s flight.

Do you sometimes have these visual concepts thrown at you when you are on the brink of falling asleep? It happens to me often and I usually make the mistake of thinking I’ll remember the next day..for this one though I stumbled out of bed to put the idea on paper and brought it to life the next day.
I had this clear image of a very graphic straight line of.. Tears? Sorrow? Light? Life?
But I didn’t want to fully answer that question because, to me, truly meaningful things often exist in the space between definitions. In between fragility and beauty. Hope and sorrow. Loss and growth… there is a lot of beauty that can be found in the hardest moments in life..even if it can be hard to see sometimes.

Persephone’s story:
In a meadow, Persephone was wandering amongst wildflowers when the earth split open beneath her feet. From the dark came Hades in his golden chariot, carrying her away to the underworld to become his queen.

Her mother Demeter, goddess of the harvest, searched the world in grief. As her sorrow deepened, the fields withered, the crops died, and winter fell upon the earth.

Fearing the loss of humanity, Zeus demanded Persephone’s return.

But Persephone had tasted the underworld itself..a handful of crimson pomegranate seeds. So she could never fully leave it behind. A balance was struck: part of the year she would rise to the living world, where Demeter’s joy would awaken spring and summer, and part she would descend once more beside Hades, while the earth mourned her absence in autumn and winter.

It’s where my tattoo journey began in 2017 and it truly feels like I’m coming back home. I’m super excited to rejoin the talented team there and the most inspiring artist, that made this life changing career possible for me: @veroniqueimbo

The permanent closure of @imperialtattooconnexion came to me as a surprise, but although my time there was shorter than expected, I’m genuinely grateful for the connections and friendships I made during those few months.

I’m looking forward to this next chapter and can’t wait to welcome you (again) at Loveless!
